Firstly we would like to wish all our Asian members a very Happy Chinese New Year. May the year of the Horse bring much happiness, prosperity and longevity throughout.
The past week has seen buyers placing £180,000 worth of bids raising the total value above the offer value for the first time since Cavex started in April 2013. Live bids now amount to £1.93 million, spread over 1407 cases which is a rise of 3.65%.
New bids placed over the seven day period takes the total live positions to £3.8 million. There are now over 860 active markets.
Trading has been exceptionally Bordeaux focussed this week with Lafite hitting the top spot with a variety of vintages trading. Highlights from these are: 2003 at £6,650; 2004 at £5,200; 2007 at £5,200 and 2009 at £6550 all trading down on their previous price.
Burgundy, taking a back seat, did have a little flurry of trade with DRC La Tache 2004 at £3300 (3), DRC Echezeaux 2006 at £1400 (3) and Hudellot Noellat RSV 2008 at £1200 (6). These latest trades can always be viewed on the link here
Hot bids this week highlight that buyers are in seach of more of the same from recent trades with most members placing identical or slightly higher bids for wines recently traded. Beychevelle, Haut Brion, Lafite, Leoville Barton, Montrose, Mouton all being sought in quantity.
Hot offers demonstrate a mixture of left and right bank Bordeaux. Pavie 2003 at £1900 and 2009 at £2500 for fours cases is a very good deal indeed! As well as Grand Puy Lacoste 2008 at £50 under last traded price and eight cases of Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2008 at £225.
